Most counties will send only one certified notice and when it is returned, they fail to complete the due diligence of locating the person(s) that are by law entitled to receive qualifying funds.
After a period, the funds are escheated back to the county. In most cases the claimant is unaware that these monies owe to them. This is an unfair practice.
